Over time, I also learned that I could be wonderful and have a healthy body, within my personal characteristics. What I want you to understand is that genetics does not determine the weight loss process – it only influences it, but it is not decisive.
And that this beauty ideal that makes people suffer and put themselves at risk to lose weight does not exist for most. But you can be healthy and beautiful with the body you already have. You can explore the limits of your own body, making it healthier, with respect, rather than trying to fit into a body that isn’t your own.
Lose Weight vs. Lose Weight – What’s Best?
Then, we get into another question: what is losing weight vs. losing weight. Weight loss is when your body, through specific nutrition and exercise, for example, loses fat, ie, adipose tissue.
Losing weight is simply losing pounds, without necessarily losing fat. You can lose weight by decreasing lean mass (muscles), losing fluid, etc. So, simply losing weight does not mean that you lost weight, that is, you lost fat.
When you’re on a very restrictive diet, like those crazy diets that make you lose a lot of weight in a short time, without having to exercise, you’re actually losing fluid and lean mass. What to do?
The first step to losing weight in a healthy way is to understand that the process is about losing fat and that it happens gradually, not overnight. There is no magic! A dietary re-education based on the intake of few carbohydrates and fats, as well as processed foods, less sodium, more fiber and protein, in addition to a good intake of water, always in adequate and moderate portions.
That’s why, in order not to lose lean mass in the process, and still tone your muscles, exercises are essential in the weight loss process. It sounds very simple – and it is! But many people still prefer the easiest and most devious paths, even without getting results.
